Peacock has released the first official teaser for Teacup, a gripping horror-thriller series from the mind of acclaimed producer James Wan and his Atomic Monster production company. Based on the New York Times bestselling novel Stinger by Robert McCammon, Teacup promises to be a chilling exploration of survival and the darkness that lurks within.

Set to premiere on Thursday, October 10th, with the first two episodes, Teacup will unfold its terrifying tale with new episodes dropping weekly through Halloween. The series follows a disparate group of individuals thrown together in the heart of rural Georgia, forced to confront a mysterious and menacing force that threatens their very existence.

Showrunner and executive producer Ian McCulloch, known for his work on hit series like Yellowstone and Chicago Fire, brings a unique perspective to the adaptation. In a statement, McCulloch shared his journey from initial reluctance to becoming fully immersed in the project:

“When Atomic Monster first approached me about adapting Stinger, I was hesitant. The novel is a sprawling, epic tale with a massive scope. My strength lies in intimate storytelling. However, the raw power of McCammon’s premise captivated me. I realized I could create a smaller, more focused narrative that captured the essence of the original while staying true to my own style.”

McCulloch’s vision for Teacup is a testament to his ability to transform a grand concept into a tightly woven, suspenseful drama. The series promises to be a “keyhole epic,” delivering a big story through a small lens, reminiscent of classic horror films like Signs and The Thing.

Joining McCulloch in bringing Teacup to life is director E.L. Katz, whose work on The Haunting of Bly Manor and Channel Zero has established him as a master of suspenseful storytelling. Katz helmed the first two episodes of the series, setting a chilling tone for the entire season.

Executive producer James Wan, renowned for his work on The Conjuring universe and groundbreaking films like M3GAN, expressed his excitement about the project:

“Stinger captivated us all at Atomic Monster. Ian McCulloch’s vision for adapting it into a series was both bold and brilliant. Combined with an incredible cast led by Yvonne Strahovski and Scott Speedman, Teacup is poised to be a truly unforgettable viewing experience.”

The star-studded cast includes Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux. Their performances promise to bring depth and complexity to the characters as they navigate the escalating terror.

Teacup is a co-production between UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Atomic Monster. The series is a departure from traditional horror, blending elements of mystery, drama, and science fiction into a captivating and thought-provoking narrative.
