Actress Jodi Moore Lewis sat down with Where Is The Buzz for an exclusive interview about one of the most secretive roles of the television season, Mrs. Miller, on the third and final season of HBO’s Euphoria. Lewis takes us through her time navigating early morning script deliveries and improvising alongside Zendaya, the challenge of acting while pregnant, and finding herself at the core of Rue Bennett’s story, what it was like stepping into one of the most discussed series of the decade, and memories that Lewis says she will always cherish.
Jodi Moore Lewis’s initial thought upon receiving her audition sides for HBO’s Euphoria was that they didn’t make any sense. “How the heck does this fit into that world?” she recalled her initial thoughts. “It made zero sense to me, but I went for it without question because IT IS EUPHORIA.”
Lewis stars as Mrs. Miller in the third and final season of the Emmy-winning series that wrapped its critically acclaimed run in early 2024. The final season was certainly not a quiet one, as script sides were delivered to cast members only the night before they were to be shot, and only through secure, password-protected means. “When we showed up to set, we still weren’t sure how the Miller Family was going to merge with the storyline,” Lewis stated. “It wasn’t until we shot with Colman Domingo that we truly knew – if you did your script interpretation classes, you understood Rue’s fate.”
The Miller family is uniquely woven into the series’ final conclusion and appears in scenes with Zendaya and Colman Domingo as the show brings to a close the saga of its protagonist, Rue Bennett. “We were the beginning and the end of her journey,” said Lewis, “which is a wild thought still to me, to be such an integral role in this epic saga.”
Lewis shot her scenes in early March of 2025 and was pregnant while on set for Season 3. “For the remainder of the year, I focused on my baby and my growing family,” she said. “I think that helped ease any pressure there would have been otherwise. I had another buzzworthy creation to capture my heart and attention.”
Lewis admitted that appearing on screen with both Zendaya and Domingo- two of the biggest names in modern television- required a cool and professional approach. She said she is a huge fan of both actors, even outside of the context of Euphoria. “You do your best not to fan girl like crazy,” Lewis admitted. “I’ve been a huge fan of them both outside of the show – ‘Sing Sing’ moved me to my core, just an outstanding piece, and Zendaya always brings it. I’ve enjoyed watching her career – you never know what she is going to do next.”
Although Lewis stated that her moments with Zendaya on set were truly memorable, even those that didn’t make the final cut, the one scene that was left on the cutting room floor in which the two actresses improvised at a dinner table sticks out in Lewis’s mind. “Improvising with Zendaya at the dinner table was so much fun,” Lewis admitted. “It wasn’t used in the final edit, but we got to live in this space with her for a while and play.”
Lewis said her time watching Domingo act was just as impactful. “There was a shot where we just were able to sit and watch – what a masterclass,” she stated. “Truly went to acting church that night.”
In what might be the season’s biggest shocker, Lewis confessed that she had never watched Euphoria before being cast. “I know that is INSANE,” she said laughing. “My girlfriends berate me for it. I honestly had good intentions to watch the show in its entirety before our season aired but, new mom here – never got around to it.” She watched parts of episodes while prepping for her audition, and the entire third season after it aired. Lewis took a diplomatic approach to the online commentary on creator Sam Levinson’s choices, including the season finale, Rue’s ultimate fate, Ali’s vengeful plot, and a moving tribute to the late Angus Cloud. “I can’t speak to it as a true fan would,” she stated. “I know there are so many reactions on the internet about the ending, and I think that is great. Any piece of art should be a talking point. People do not have to like it or love it, but if it evokes a conversation, that is ultimately what we are doing as storytellers – inviting the conversation of being human.”
Lewis noted how evident the mutual trust between director Sam Levinson and lead actress Zendaya was during the filming of the final season. “There seemed to be a lot of trust between Zendaya and Sam to have the series unfold to the end in this way,” she said. “And to be honest, there felt like a lot of trust in us as co-stars of the show to show up and play – he gave us a lot of freedom in that way.” For Lewis, who was also acting on film for the first time, the entire experience was “exhilarating.”
Euphoria Season 3 is now available to stream on Max.
