Notable Colombian journalist and former adult film actress Deyci Alejandra Omaña Ortiz, commonly referred to as Amaranta Hank, will represent Colombia in the Senate. The woman born in the city of Cúcuta will serve as part of the leftist Historic Pact bloc during the 2026-2030 parliamentary term in Colombia, thus becoming the most controversial figure in Colombian politics over recent years.
According to El Tiempo, data from Colombia’s National Registry show that the Historic Pact is currently the strongest political force in the country. On March 8, this political bloc secured 22.72% of the Senate vote (more than 4.4 million ballots), allowing it to win 25 seats. Omaña took 23rd place on the Historic Pact’s closed list.
News about this woman entering Colombian politics has sparked heated debates both in Colombia and elsewhere. RTA Noticias reports that some people view this event as an indication that politics is changing, while others find her history in adult entertainment unacceptable.
Omaña reacted to criticism by emphasizing that what she has been doing doesn’t matter. According to El Tiempo, the politician claimed that her participation in the adult entertainment industry does not prevent her from engaging in politics and that it has taught her many important lessons, including an understanding of inequality and strength. “I don’t want people to forgive my past or to think I’m better now than I was before,” she stressed; she wants people to recognize her and the voices of her fellow workers.
The politician is also talking from the economic point of view. El Tiempo claims that according to Omaña, women participating in the sexual economy contribute greatly to the country and its GDP, stimulate the local economy, create jobs, and help their families.
One of Omaña’s plans described by Publimetro Colombia is the creation of regulations for sex work in the country covering both traditional sex work and digital platforms for sex workers like OnlyFans.
As Infobae noted, the politician was sworn in this week and announced plans to reform traditional politics in Norte de Santander. In particular, she is going to propose declaring Cúcuta the border, commercial, and historic district. “We can look for a different way of doing politics,” she claimed, adding that her bloc will focus on defending collective rather than individual interests.
As noted by Las2orillas, the woman had been working as a journalist until 2017. She left the adult entertainment industry in 2019 and later joined the Historic Pact through organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Equality and Equity.
Reacting to her victory in March, the politician wrote on X: “Infinite thanks, I feel embraced by my own. Ours will be a disruptive, necessary and disciplined participation. We did it.”
