A U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg got arrested on Saturday on charges that he had approached a child with disabilities about engaging in sexual activity, according to CBS 17.
Schuyler Naves is accused of statutory rape, statutory sex offense, and attempted first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
He is also charged with soliciting a minor for prostitution, soliciting a minor for sex via computer, and appearing to meet.
After the charges were found to have probable cause, a Randolph County magistrate granted Naves a $1 million secured bond. Authorities took Naves to the Randolph County Jail in preparation for his first court appearance.
According to Liberty police, Naves agreed to pay a family member to have sex with the child and traveled to Liberty on Saturday to engage in the illegal activity.
Liberty police detectives launched an online investigation into the exploitation of a young child in late April.
