ESPN has taken Rachel Nichols off of all NBA programming and will cancel her weekday afternoon show “The Jump,” the network confirmed today. Nichols was informed of the changes this week.
This decision most likely came after the major controversy Nichols had before the NBA Finals started earlier this year.
Nichols wasn’t a sideline reporter for the NBA Finals this year due to her phone call being leaked that suggested that Maria Taylor, African American woman, was picked to host last year’s finals because the network was under pressure to address its “crappy longtime record on diversity.”
Since ESPN has got rid of a majority of Nichols work load. They already announce that she will not be the sideline reporter in 2022 of the NBA Finals. How much time do you think she has left with the company?
They are rumors circulating that ESPN and Disney will attempt to buy Nichols out of her current contract. It is not known how much Nichols makes per year or how many years she has remaining on her contract.
