This holiday season, Illumination, the creative force behind animated hits like Minions and Despicable Me, invites viewers to embark on a hilarious and heartwarming journey with their newest original comedy, “Migration.”

Meet the Mallard family—a feathered clan residing in a New England pond. Dad Mack is content with their routine, while mom Pam yearns for excitement. When a migrating duck family shares tales of their adventures, Pam convinces Mack to take their family on a journey beyond the familiar pond. Thus, the Mallards set out for a family vacation that takes them from New York City to tropical Jamaica.

Penned by Mike White, the Emmy-winning creator of The White Lotus and School of Rock, “Migration” boasts a stellar comedic cast. Oscar and Emmy nominee Kumail Nanjiani takes on the role of anxious Mallard dad Mack, alongside Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks as the daring matriarch, Pam. Caspar Jennings plays their restless son Dax, and in her feature film debut, Tresi Gazal portrays the innocent and lovable daughter, Gwen.

The animated adventure introduces a lively ensemble of characters voiced by notable talents, including Golden Globe winner Awkwafina, Emmy winner Carol Kane, Emmy winner Keegan-Michael Key, BAFTA winner David Mitchell, and the legendary Danny DeVito as Mack’s adventure-averse Uncle Dan.

Directed by Benjamin Renner, known for his Oscar-nominated work on Ernest & Celestine, “Migration” promises to be a visual spectacle, combining elevated, expressionist artistry with Illumination’s signature subversive humor and heartfelt storytelling. The film explores themes of overcoming fears, embracing opportunities, and the transformative power of opening oneself up to the world.

Produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri, “Migration” is set to captivate audiences with its unforgettable characters, joyful soundtrack, and a delightful blend of humor and heart. As the Mallards take flight, viewers can expect a unique and entertaining experience, marking another feather in Illumination’s acclaimed history of animated storytelling.
