Inde Navarrette, the actress who played Nikki in “Obsession,” a 2026 horror film, stated that for almost a year and a half, she walked dogs and streamed video games as she tried to find a job.
During an interview with Complex, Navarrette recalled her drought as an actress after the release of “Obsession.” During those 18 months, she auditioned many times but couldn’t land another role, as the movie proved quite successful.
“I didn’t work for a year and a half after ‘Obsession’ came out,” she stated. “Like I was auditioning, I was doing everything, just nothing was sticking. And I wanted to pay rent, and I wanted to do things. So I was walking dogs, I was streaming, doing everything I could to pay rent.”
To cover her expenses, she streamed games on the PC, which she built herself back in 2022. The actress said she was fascinated by other streamers and, therefore, decided to start streaming as well.
“I would have so much fun playing video games to the point where I was like, I’m doing this by myself in my room, why don’t I try?” she added. However, according to Navarrette, she is not streaming now because she does not have enough time.
The actress related her passion for both video games and movies to the fact that, when she was growing up, she had to move a lot because her family was in the military. Thus, she visited 11 or 12 schools before she became 15, and she had to change her friends often.
“Making friends was always really difficult for me,” she said. Asked whether the moves helped her become closer to her parents, she said they instead made her “really close to video games and movies and things like that.”
As for the people who inspire her, Navarrette mentioned YouTubers such as Jacksepticeye and Jenna Marbles, as well as streamers, including Vanilla Mace. Moreover, Navarrette named one person she would like to work with: Quenlyn Blackwell, as she knows how to communicate with her viewers.
According to Navartte, she wanted to take acting seriously during her streaming years, but she had very little time to work on films between seasons. The drought occurred only after the filming of “Obsession.”
