Jaz Sinclair posted an Instagram update in reaction to the cancellation of Gen V, which she portrayed for five years alongside the now-dead Chance Perdomo.
In The Boys spin-off, portraying Marie Moreau, Jaz Sinclair mentioned that her first audition for the role was in January 2021.
“Normally I do a tape and forget about it forever, but for some reason I dreamt about this one for a month.”
After another five auditions, she found out she had been chosen for the role. “I screamed and cried and jumped up and down,” Sinclair wrote, describing the feeling as the kind of “head to toe excitement that you only feel when something is all the way right.
As the star explained, five years of filming the TV series could hardly be summed up as “joys, challenges, loss, laughter, late nights, and friendships.”
She also noted with pride that she got to portray a complex woman of color, whom she described as “fierce and flawed and powerful as hell.”
“As a woman, particularly a woman of color, it brings me so much pride to have gotten to embody such a multifaceted and badass character,” Sinclair wrote.
She also mentioned how special it was to learn that people had liked her portrayal.
Finally, she paid homage to her late co-star, who died in March 2024 at age 27 due to a fatal motorcycle accident. “From the bottom of my heart, thank you all. For Chance.”
