“John Wick: Chapter 4,” starring Keanu Reeves as one of the best film assassins of our generation, had the biggest opening weekend for a U.S. franchise, with $73.5 million and $64 million overseas, grossing $137.5 million worldwide.
The blockbuster film is the number #1 movie in all 71 countries, where it premiered this weekend.
The fourth installment holds the franchise records for the biggest opening weekend, with the previous three films earning $14 million, $30.4 million, and $56.8 million for “John Wick,” “John Wick: Chapter 2,” and “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” respectively. It also has the highest rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the highest cinema score.
The success of the “John Wick” franchise has led to two spinoffs: “Ballerina,” starring Ana de Armas as an assassin similar to John Wick, and “The Continental,” a Peacock TV miniseries set in the “John Wick” universe in 1975.
