Kai Trump Documents Tearful Move To Miami: “I’ve Been Getting No Sleep For Like A Week Now”

Kai Trump said goodbye to her friends, her family and her Florida hometown this month, documenting her move to the University of Miami in a YouTube vlog that followed her from a last round of golf in Jupiter to her first night alone in a new apartment.

“What’s up guys? This is my first day of college,” Trump said in the video. “I feel like really sad that I have to say goodbye to like everyone.”

Trump, who is joining the Miami women’s golf team, filmed herself packing, assembling furniture, unboxing team gear and, at several points, fighting back tears.

She spent her final day in Jupiter on the golf course before turning to farewells.

“I’m not going to spend a whole lot of time on the golf course because I want to say goodbye to my friends,” she said. “It’s kind of crazy like I’ve been like reflecting especially last night because I’ve been getting no sleep for like a week now. This is the next chapter and I’m moving on. And I’m excited. I’m excited for the next chapter. I’m excited to play golf at University of Miami. And I’m just excited for the experience.”

She said her mother planned to drive her to school the following day.

“I think she’s going to like have like a mental breakdown when she drops me off for college,” Trump said. “But it happens to everyone. It’s time to move on. It’s time to start the next chapter of my life.”

Driving home from the course, she said the goodbyes had caught up with her.

“I’m not really a very emotional person at all. But this is like really weird for me to cry. I’ve only cried like a few times,” she said. “But like I think knowing I have to say goodbye to everyone tonight is like really, really sad. And yeah, I’m struggling right now. Just like thinking about it. But like I’m excited. I just It’s like I’m emotional. That’s weird.”

Friends Sarah and Marley appeared in the video for what Trump called her final sendoff, offering what she asked them to deliver as words of inspiration.

“Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day,” one said. “So, keep working at it.”

“Life is what you make it,” another added. “Life is like a box of chocolates.”

“No rest for the weary,” one said. “You’ve got to keep going.”

Trump filmed her first night in the apartment alone.

“It’s my first night sitting in my apartment. I’m all alone. I’m sitting alone now,” she said. “So I said goodbye to my family today. I had like an athletic meeting afterwards. I didn’t really film it cuz it was just like sad and I just wanted to say goodbye. And then it was just like hard to film because I wanted to like to be present with my family, so I just didn’t film it.”

Classes began the following Monday with a 7 a.m. team meeting and media day.

“I’m very tired if you guys cannot tell by the look of my face,” she said, adding that she needed to buy new foundation. “Of course I got pimples right here. Looks like Mount Rushmore on my face. Stress.”

A long section of the vlog was devoted to her equipment from the school.

“This is my gear haul for 2026 2027 season with University of Miami. Go Canes,” she said. “I don’t know where to start. I have a lot of stuff.”

Sorting through bags of Adidas apparel, hats, head covers, skirts, shoes and towels, she lingered on one item in particular.

“Actually, low key guys, I’m really happy I got socks because I was low key running out of socks, so got socks,” she said. Later, she added: “They have all the socks in the world. Now, I can never complain about the amount of socks.”

She closed the segment with a message to fans. “Look out for us. We’re going to come in hot and I’m excited to play for you guys this spring.”

Furniture assembly proved harder than the unboxing. Trump said one chair took two hours and had to be taken apart.

“Look what it looks like. We did it backwards,” she said. “The arms are on the wrong side. All right, so we flip it over. We have to fix it.”

Her friend Emma visited the following week and brought groceries.

“Emma got me some frozen foods because I haven’t eaten in like 3 days,” Trump said.

“It’s all precooked so she doesn’t have to do anything crazy,” Emma said. “I mean, she’s living off of diet sodas. So I got her fruit and prosciutto. And then we got her some like pasta and bread and stuff that’s like basic food, but she’s basically living off of diet soda.”

Trump also showed off shelves she had put up on her own. “I hung those up myself. Nail and hammer.”

The vlog then paused. Trump said she was diagnosed with strep throat during her first week of classes.

“I got sick with strep on Wednesday, my first week of school. This is the best I’ve sounded in probably 4 days now,” she said. “I came all the way back to Jupiter because I was so sick. I needed like my mom to nurse me back to health.”

Back on campus with Marley, she gave a tour of the athlete center, where entry requires a fingerprint scan.

“Finger ID, yeah. Isn’t that cool?” she said. “Like they did that and I was like, ‘Oh, this is so futuristic.’ I loved it.”

She also described building a cabinet without directions. “I literally built it off the dome. I did a good job.”

The video ends after an autograph session at the soccer field, where Trump appeared with a teammate.

“We just finished our signing,” she said. “I’m here with my Cloud Chasers teammate, Scarlet.”
