Kim Kardashian’s troubles are not yet over. However, she’s not one to give up.
Months after taking the California Bar Exam on July 29-30, the 45-year-old founder of SKIMS publicly announced on her social media that she had not passed. In an Instagram post directed to those dear to her, Kim explained to them that she is still keen on pursuing a career in law.
“Well… I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she continued. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up, just more studying and even more determination,” she concluded.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far,” Kim continued. “Failing short isn’t failure, it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam, and that only motivated me even more,” she said.

The California Bar Exam reportedly has a 63.6% passing rate. The exam consists of five one-hour essay questions, one 90-minute performance test, and 200 multiple-choice questions. Approximately 16,000 people choose to take this exam every year.
Kardashian was in a program where individuals seeking to become lawyers receive training from practicing lawyers, rather than attending law school.
In 2018, she enrolled in an apprenticeship program with a law office in San Francisco, and she completed the program in May 2025, having extended her education due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her inspirations to become a lawyer are derived from her father, the late Robert Kardashian. He was famously involved in the defense team for O.J. Simpson. Since then, Kim Kardashian has been an outspoken advocate for justice reforms in the justice system. She managed to secure clemencies for prisoners like ‘Alice Marie Johnson’ and ‘Chris Young.’
In 2021, Kim completed the “baby bar,” or rather the “First-Year Law Students’ Examination,” for the fourth time. “This,” she believes, “is one of her proudest accomplishments.” Later in 2021, she was able to take another crucial test, the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE).
