Social media users reacted Thursday after Mia Khalifa tweeted “TODAY I AM MOROCCAN,” accompanied by a long string of Moroccan flag emojis, signaling temporary support for the North African nation.

The post came as France and Morocco prepared to meet in the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The matchup is a rematch of the 2022 World Cup semifinal, when France defeated Morocco 2-0.

Khalifa’s tweet quickly drew responses from users online.

“I’m sorry mia, this is bigger than you,” one user wrote.

Another user pushed back on the show of support, writing, “as a proud moroccan we refuse to accept this trash.”

A third user framed the tweet as a bad sign for Morocco’s chances, writing, “This is an omen, and you know it’s bad.”

Who do you think will win France or Morocco?
