On Tuesday, Prime Video dropped the trailer and key art for the “Elle” prequel series to the 2001 “Legally Blonde” movie, which arrives exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories around the world on July 1st.
All eight episodes of the first season are available on the premiere date. A second season has already been ordered by Prime Video.
The prequel series, set in 1995, chronicles Elle Woods’s high school years before the first movie. Her friendships, love interests, and family dynamics, specifically her relationships with her parents, are the focus.

Lexi Minetree plays Elle Woods. June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott star as her mother Eva and father Wyatt, respectively.
Also among the cast are Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz. Recurring cast members include James Van Der Beek, David Burtka, and others.
Created by Laura Kittrell (“High School” and “Insecure”) and co-showrun by Caroline Dries, the series is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Amanda Brown, Marc Platt, and Brad Van Arragon. Jason Moore, the director of “Pitch Perfect,” is the director of the first two episodes and executive producer.
Amazon MGM Studios produces the series with Hello Sunshine.
The premiere, as well as the 25th anniversary of “Legally Blonde,” is being celebrated with a free, one-day experiential activation and merchandise event titled “Elle World,” which Prime Video will hold in New York City on the premiere date. Reservations will open on Wednesday at 8 AM ET at ElleWorldNYC.com.
