Rep. Nancy Mace said that Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts woman who murdered her three children in 2023, deserved to be publicly executed. She suggested that the death penalty is a warning to others and mentioned options such as a firearm or an electric chair.
According to the TMZ report, the trial of Clancy for first-degree murder resulted in a mistrial early in September 2026 because of a hung jury, as they failed to agree on the not guilty by reason of insanity plea in connection with the mother’s serious postpartum psychosis. The woman is currently housed in a psychiatric institution and may have to undergo the trial again. Massachusetts hasn’t used the death penalty since 1947.
As mentioned in the exclusive interview with Mace, she shared her view on Clancy’s attorney’s call for a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. “Back to Lindsay Clancy, you saw that her attorney is asking Trump for a pardon, which he can’t do. Which is how it is because he knows as an attorney in the state of Massachusetts, you can’t ask for a federal pardon for a state case,” Mace said. “I mean, it doesn’t take a lawyer. I’m not even a lawyer. I didn’t go to law school. It doesn’t take a lawyer to figure that out. It was just a publicity stunt. I think it’s nasty. It’s ugly. He wants sympathy for his client being in a wheelchair. Her children are dead. She should be dead, too.”
In answer to further inquiries, Mace repeated her statement: “You’re saying she should be dead, too,” the interviewer said. “Yeah, she should get the death penalty. It should be public. It should be a public execution,” Mace responded.
“What would that look like? In your ideal world, you’re saying she deserves a public execution,” the interviewer said. “Oh, absolutely. She killed her kids. She deserves nothing left. Her kids are dead,” Mace said.
“So when you say public execution, spell that out for me,” the interviewer pressed. “It could be by a firearm. It could be the electric chair. I don’t really care,” Mace answered.
“You’d like to see that. You’d like to see Lindsay Clancy get the electric chair in front of a crowd of people,” the interviewer said. “She should get the electric chair. She should get the death penalty. It should be public. It should be a warning to women. Everywhere, you don’t kill your kids,” Mace responded.
When questioned if the attitude is excessive, Mace didn’t agree. “Don’t you think that sets, I mean, a little out of bounds? Even if you want to give someone the death penalty,” the interviewer asked.
“Absolutely not. Child rapists, too. Add them to the list of public executions, yes,” Mace said. “These people, you can’t. Look at the crime we have in this country. If people can get away with murdering children, what else can they do? I mean, there are no rules. There are no laws. But I think, again, it was an 11-to-1 jury. I mean, a lot of people, she was nearly off.”
“And you’re saying that if it were up to you, she would be in the public square executing,” the interviewer added. “I will tell you, nobody ever wants me on a jury,” Mace joked.
