It was announced today that Ryan Reynolds will be the 36th recipient of the American Cinematheque Award in a tribute being planned for Thursday, November 17, 2022. The Award Ceremony will take place at The Beverly Hilton. The event is an annual fundraiser for the non-profit organization that continues its year-round programming at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, Los Feliz 3 Theatre in Los Feliz, and Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

AC Board Chair Rick Nicita announced the selection by stating: “Ryan Reynolds is a Renaissance Man 2.0 for our times. He is an actor, a business entrepreneur, a writer, a comedian, a producer and a creative innovator on screen and off. Most important to us, he is a true modern movie star. He has reached the heights of stardom in movies shown on all platforms, in all genres ranging from comedies to dramas to action films or combinations of all three. His popular movies are too numerous to single out but most recently he has achieved unprecedented new levels of audience enthusiasm with DEADPOOL, THE ADAM PROJECT and RED NOTICE. The Canadian government recently designated him a ‘National Treasure’ and the American Cinematheque joins them in celebrating Ryan Reynolds as the 36th recipient of the American Cinematheque Award.”

Ryan Reynolds is a Canadian actor, producer, screenwriter, and entrepreneur. He has been nominated for Golden Globe and Grammy awards for his work on the billion-dollar franchise Deadpool. His most recent film, The Adam Project, which he also produced is currently Netflix’s fourth most-viewed English-language movie of all time. Reynolds is the only actor with 3 films on Netflix’s all-time top 10 list (Red Notice, The Adam Project, Six Underground). After beginning his acting career in 1991, Ryan rose to prominence in comedy series Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place and dozens of films including The Proposal, Definitely, Maybe, Mississippi Grind and Free Guy. Reynolds is also an award-winning marketer, creating breakthrough campaigns for Deadpool as well Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile, and the Match Group. He is an owner of Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile, Wrexham Football Club, Chief Creative Officer of MNTN and a co-founder of Maximum Effort Productions. He has been recognized as one of the most creative people in business by Fast Company, Wall Street Journal and AdWeek.
