An American content creator says that fans in the United States have brought much more energy to this World Cup than English fans, making the local spectators the leaders of an unofficial “fan table” based on atmospherics rather than results.
Skylar Mae, aged 22, assumed that fans from England would lead this unofficial table because the United States, Mexico, and Canada host this World Cup across North America. Nevertheless, she thinks that the home crowd set the tone.
“‘Where’s the passion, England?’ That’s what I was asking myself. I always heard that English fans are completely obsessed with football. But honestly, the US fans are bringing more energy right now.”
According to her, American fans made every match a spectacle because of their tailgates, fancy clothes, crowded bars, and pre-match buildup reminiscent of the Super Bowl.
“America turned every match into an event,” she says. “It seems that the English fans are strangely calm this year. It’s almost like they forgot that they are at the World Cup.”
Moreover, as Skylar emphasizes, her table is about the vibes and not the football ability.
“I’m not ranking football ability here,” she clarifies. “It’s all about vibes, who’s loud, who’s fun, who brings passion, and who I’d like to sit next to for 90 minutes.”
Based on her estimation, American content creators have put the United States, Brazil, Argentina, the Netherlands, Mexico, Australia, and England in her table, respectively.
Brazil took second place for its perfect atmosphere, according to her opinion. “The Brazilian fans just look like they’re having the most fun,” Skylar says. “They dance, sing, and smile even before the game starts.”
The third position went to Argentina because of its passionate fans. “Every match for them is like a life or death,” she says. “It may be intense, but it’s never boring.”
The Netherlands took fourth place for its iconic orange colors, while Mexican fans took fifth for their noise and regional vibes. “You can hear them even before you see them,” Skylar says.
Australia took the last position among the first six countries, with its fans, who she said: “seem happy to be there and here for a good time”.
England was the last country in the table.
“I expected the chaos, non-stop chanting and passion from the English fans, but they’ve been much more passive than I expected,” she says. “Either they’ve mellowed or simply got sick of raising their hopes, but I expected them to be more vocal.”
Nevertheless, she has found one feature in favor of the English fans – they found her OnlyFans account and sent her direct messages showing where they are.
When asked whether so many foreign fans could benefit her business, Skylar said that the World Cup at home is “good for everyone”. She added that many people come to watch the matches without their partners.
