Peacocks John Wayne Gacy: Devil In Deguise follows the gut-wrenching true crime story of convicted sex offender and serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

I spoke to executive producer and showrunner Alexa Danner and Retired Des Plaines Officer Rafael Tovar who was heavily involved in the investigation about the need to revisit this story and why his crimes went unchecked for so long.

Many recall the story in the ’70s of “Killer Clown” John Wayne Gacy and for some, they are now just learning about the case. Gacy by all accounts appeared to be an upstanding citizen, he had political connections and his own construction company, and many people looked up to him in the community. Unbeknownst to everyone even his 2nd wife Carol, Gacy was a man leading multiple lives. What was initially a missing person case in 1978 led to the investigation of 33 murders, many of the bodies were buried in the crawl space at the Gacy home.

Devil in Disguise, deep dives into how and where the story began including never-before-seen witness testimony and also piercing prison interviews with Gacy himself in his own words. Gacy was ultimately convicted for his crimes and was put to death in 1994.

Although Gacy is dead and gone, there are still 6 victims who have yet to be found, showrunner and ep Alexa Danner hopes that this series opens the door to finding justice for those victims and their families.

John Wayne Gacy: Devil In Deguise is now streaming only on Peacock.
