TikTok user Kylie Brewer shared a video criticizing another user for posting content stating that having white skin means that you are better than those who have darker skin.
This video had the caption, “Having wh!te skin isn’t an accomplishment …”
Brewer started off by saying that this behavior is part of a bigger picture. “Like I said before, white people have no personalities outside of being white, and this video proves it,” she said.
She first criticized the use of Natasha Bedingfield’s song “Pocketful of Sunshine” in the video. “First of all, how dare you ruin Pocketful of Sunshine like that?” Brewer said. “Natasha Bedingfield is a f—ing icon, and she would never support what you’re using this song for, okay?”
Next, she addressed the other user, referring to her as Rebecca. “Number two, what the f— is wrong with you?” she said. “Seriously, like, you think just by waking up in the morning that that makes you a better person than someone with darker skin than you, Rebecca? It’s pretty embarrassing.”
She pointed out that the user seemed to be middle-aged. “And how old are you? Like in your 40s talking about this s—, talking about how you being white makes you superior and how you’re proud of your white skin. Like it’s some sort of accomplishment by nature of being born.”
She added that she specifically did not tag the other account. “I’m not tagging you in this because I don’t want to help boost your 20,000 followers that you have that enjoy seeing this absolute crap that you post,” Brewer said.
Brewer maintained that being white is not a personality trait. “Again, being white should not be a personality trait. Personality traits are things like, oh, I’m funny. I’m cool. I’m entertaining. I enjoy to go outside and go for a walk,” she said. “Not, oh, I walk outside, and the sun burns my skin because I’m Caucasian and that makes me better than you.”
Finally, she urged the user to delete her account. “Like, stand up. And delete your account while you’re at it. Because this s— is irritating,” Brewer said. “The entire posts are like this.”
