A YouTuber and streamer who goes by Fawcette has gone viral for comments about whether he would date a Black woman, saying he would but that his taste is “more refined than the average Black woman you’d find nowadays.”

Fawcette, born Leland King Fawcette, shared the clip to his social media on July 6. Pulled from a gaming stream and captioned “Where did all of the afros go?”, the video shows him answering the question of whether he would date a Black woman.

“Would I ever date a Black girl? I mean … yeah,” Fawcette said. “But, see, like, my taste in Black women is a little bit more refined than the average Black woman you’d find nowadays.”

In the clip, Fawcette said he liked “the Lauryn Hill type of Black women,” adding that he also favored “the Pam Grier, or the Tisha Campbell kind of Black women.” He questioned why women he saw at malls and convenience stores resembled GloRilla or Sexyy Red, saying such women “look like science experiments from the CIA meant to destroy the Black community.”

Asked rhetorically whether he found GloRilla attractive, Fawcette said, “Hell no!”

He said he would date a woman who looked like Patrice Rushen but objected to certain speech, saying he would not “curse my children with a mother” who says phrases such as “Skee Kee!” and “On foe ‘nem!”

Fawcette also criticized dyed hair, asking what happened to afros and “looking like you’re Garnet from ‘Steven Universe.'” He pointed to Kanye West’s daughter, North West, saying, “You do not need aquamarine hair to make yourself look beautiful. You are beautiful the way you already were born.”

He ended the clip by saying, “I don’t need no girl to look like Hasunomiku. Oh my gosh, bro.”
