Why Is Awkwafina Receiving Backlash Right Before Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” Hits Theaters?

Literally the worst timing for the actress and comedian, Awkwafina to receive any type of backlash since her upcoming Marvel film “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” will be releasing in theaters in a few weeks.

Social media is sparking up Awkwafina blaccent controversy before the Marvel movie hits theaters. People are accusing Awkwafina of cultural appropriation after she allegedly rode the Urban wave until she got role in ‘The Farewell’ which she won an Golden Globe for Best Actress.

Awkwafina spoke about not doing the Asian accents during her projects while doing an interview with VICE.

“I refuse to do accents. I’m not OK with someone writing the Asian experience for an Asian character. I make it very clear, I don’t ever go out for auditions where I feel like I’m making a minstrel out of our people.”

Today, a video has gone viral of her allegedly using a blaccent for her role in ‘Oceans 8’ which also starred Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, and Helena Bonham Carter.
