Woman Accused of Luring Minor From Home, Trafficking Child for Sex, Providing Illegal Drugs

On May 28th, a Rhode Island woman was arrested for some pretty serious charges, including trafficking a minor for sexual servitude, according to state police.

Heather Bessette, 36, from 282 Providence Street, was caught when police executed a search warrant and arrest affidavit authorized by the courts.

Now she’s hit with six charges: trafficking a minor for sexual servitude, conspiracy to do the same, contributing to a minor’s delinquency, giving Schedule I or II drugs to a minor, felony assault with a dangerous weapon, and enticing a minor to skip town.

The arrest involved the Special Victims Unit along with support from the Major Crimes Unit, the Violent Fugitive Task Force, uniformed troopers, and the Tactical Team. After her arrest, Bessette was booked and appeared at Sixth District Court for her arraignment.
