Yulia Storozhuk, a 29-year-old mother from Ukraine, has accepted a plea deal following a harrowing incident of child abuse that was caught on video. The footage shows Storozhuk throwing and kicking her 3-year-old son in a distressing sequence of events.

The video captures Storozhuk entering a room with her son standing at the doorway. She points toward the hallway, and as he begins to walk toward her, she pushes him down. The arrest report details the brutal scene: Storozhuk lifts the child from the ground with both hands and throws him to the floor. While the boy is on the ground, she kicks him twice. As he attempts to get up, she pushes him back down and kicks him down the hallway out of view.

Storozhuk, who fled the war in Ukraine and arrived in the United States about a year ago, expressed deep remorse for her actions. She attributed her behavior to her “emotions getting the best of me” during the incident.

In the plea deal, Storozhuk avoided jail time but was sentenced to three years probation. She also faces the possibility of deportation back to Ukraine. Judge Carmen Cabarga, who oversaw the case, emphasized the importance of ensuring the child’s safety. She left open the possibility of reuniting Storozhuk with her child, provided she promises not to be physical with him in the future.
