Zara Larsson discussed her unusual experience of receiving an education after performing at Yale University. The singer shared an honest TikTok that garnered many views.

The star began her career as a teenager and never completed high school. In the video, she jokingly mentioned her performance at Yale as a part of her college tour and her complicated attitude towards her education.

“Uh huh. Yeah, I went to Yale. I did,” Larsson said. “Yeah. No, it was great. Hmm. I went there to sing. To sing? Yeah, once. So technically, I did go to Yale.”

According to Larsson, her recent performances at colleges can be considered as part of her large-scale concert tour. “I signed that a long time ago because I needed to pay for my real tour cause it’s so expensive to tour,” she said, adding that she does not cancel performances once she agrees to do so.

Nevertheless, Larsson openly spoke about her attitude toward education, stating that she sometimes regrets not going to college. “I wish I went to college. A part of me wish I went to college because I didn’t even finish high school,” she laughed. “I hate saying that because it doesn’t match my brain. Like, I’m a smart girl, but someone has to entertain the educated, and that’s my job, and I take that seriously.”

However, despite her regrets, Larsson enjoyed performing at colleges. “It’s actually been so fun, and everyone’s having a good time,” she pointed out, emphasizing how much she has advanced and how she has grown from singing at “high school cafeterias” to college venues.

Also, she mentioned that she bought some clothes with the university’s logo and planned to wear them everywhere. “Best believe I will wear this in the airports and kind of everywhere,” she said. “If you see me in this, mind your business, please. Or just be like, wow, that’s so amazing. Like, what year did you graduate? I’ll be like, I’ll graduate in two years.”

Commenters appreciated Larsson’s humor and frankness.

Some people suggested other options for further studying. “It’s never too late to get that degree,” a user stated, citing cases of people who finished college after graduating from high school. Some other commenters noted that intelligence is not always equivalent to a college education, with one user claiming that “Being smart has nothing to do with being educated.”

Finally, one user supported Larsson’s opinion about her role as an entertainer, stating, “Someone has to entertain the educated… she is exactly who she thinks she is and I love her.”

Larsson did not mention any plans regarding studying in college in the future.
