Pop star Zara Larsson says she isn’t earning money from the Midnight Sun Tour. On TikTok, she responded to a fan claiming that all of the money she earns from tickets goes to paying for her team, travel, and production expenses.
She responded to a fan who was complaining about expensive concert tickets in a comment under her TikTok video. The fan believes that artists need to fight for reduced ticket prices because not everyone can afford them, especially full-time employees.
“I agree! I don’t want my tickets to be too pricey, and I will definitely see what I can do about that!” Larsson replied. “But right now in my career I’m definitely not making big bucks on touring. It’s basically a non profit at this point. Everything that I make goes into paying people, transportation, production etc.”
The Midnight Sun Tour promotes her upcoming 2025 album and will include around 100 shows on five continents. Additional dates were added in places such as the Philippines and Thailand because of the demand.
Moreover, Larsson also performed at universities on the tour, which helps cover some of the bigger production costs.
Her fans thanked her for being honest about how tour money works, an issue artists rarely discuss. Some pointed out that in some countries, the tickets are still inexpensive and sell out very quickly.
The costs of organizing tours have increased dramatically in recent years because of the high price of freight, trucking, crew salaries and venues. Artists at Larsson’s level who perform at theaters and mid-size arenas, but not stadiums, have either minimal margins or losses on the road. Merchandise sales and streaming pay for the money.
Larsson did not specify what changes, if any, she plans to introduce regarding ticket prices.
