The last thing one wants to hear six weeks before a superhero film’s release is a request to bring some tissues. This is precisely what happened this week. In an interview with Q Music, actress Zendaya, one of the stars of the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day film, gave an unequivocal hint that fans might need some tissues while watching the movie.
In an interview about how fans can prepare for the movie premiere, Zendaya, who plays MJ, first gave the standard response, and then continued with the following recommendation:
“I would say watch all of our previous Spider-Man [movies] just to keep you caught up, and then bring some tissues… we go there.”
We go there. Two simple words that have made fans of the superhero movie go wild. Actress Zendaya rarely hypes these films, so when she recommends bringing tissues, viewers react accordingly.
The important part is that, while other outcomes are still possible (sad scenes don’t necessarily imply character deaths), Zendaya’s statement suggests that at least one of the main heroes of Brand New Day might not survive the movie.
The movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day will premiere in theaters on July 31, 2026. Meanwhile, for three weeks, the internet will be full of dread, speculation, and quotes like “we go there”.
Do you agree with Zendaya’s statement?
