Adele’s “EASY ON ME” Music Video Review

Once I heard the sweet melody of her vocals, I knew the industry has been needing the return of this iconic vocalist.

Adele. Even her name alone holds weight. When has 6 years turned into an eternity? Apparently, her fans can attest to her newest single release being love overdue. “Easy on Me” has officially been released across music platforms today.

Every album Adele makes sure to capture the true essence of where and who she is in that moment. Time is nothing but a social construct in Adele’s world, but it creates the space for her to deliver some of the greatest songs about heartbreak, strength, and forgiveness. And her latest single “Easy on Me” that has fans crying for more already, doesn’t sway from the empowering messages that we usually receive from Adele.

To understand the underlying concept of the song, Adele literally spells it out without any hidden agendas as to the difficulty it can bring when trying to find your inner self. She sings, “I was still a child, didn’t get the chance to feel the world around me, had no time to choose, what I chose to do, so go easy on me.” Not only is she seeking forgiveness for her past self and the lack of what she knew at the time while trying to forgive herself, but she’s also speaking to the future version of her son when he’s old enough to understand.

The inspiration behind her newest single and the majority of her album is for her son. According to an interview the singer did for Vogue in their November issue she states, “I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness.” Adele has always had a unique and powerful way of explaining her reasoning behind her decisions and fans are seeing her in a different light more than ever before.

Fans across social media platforms have already become obsessed with her latest single and have posted memes that prove that Adele is still very much loved despite taking a hiatus for 6 years. But when you’re that much of a legend, she’s able to bounce back like she never left. After going through marriage, birthing a son, a divorce, weight loss, and discovering who she is now; Adele has a lot in store for her fans.

The singer confirmed that her fourth studio album, 30, will be released on November 19. Not only is the cover of the album absolutely gorgeous of Adele’s side profile, but the intimate message she left for her fans that partially stated, “I’ve learned a lot of blistering home truths about myself along the way. I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones. Discovered genuinely useful and wholesome mentalities to lead with, and I feel like I’ve finally found my feeling again. I’d go as far as to say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life. Home is where the heart is x.”

Well Adele, we’re glad that you’re finally home again.
