Love Island USA contestant got in trouble for old footage where she appeared to be singing a racial slur. This issue becomes another one of many related to racism that the show experienced recently.

Alannah Keyser, 21, who joined Season 8 as a Casa Amor bombshell, was eliminated from the show after some videos with her went viral online. It looked like Keyser was singing along to a racial slur in Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” and made some other past comments about it.

Keyser made a TikTok video to apologize for what happened. At the beginning, Keyser addressed everyone directly, wearing a black zip-up top. Then the video continued with a text about her trying to spread positivity and to help people.

“Hi, everyone. I’m here to address things that have been circulating online,” Keyser said. “I do want to begin by addressing the video of me singing along to a Roddy Rich song that contains a racial slur. I’m sorry to whoever seen that video and has been offended by it. That was never my intention. The video is from six years ago, and that word is just not in my vocabulary anymore.”

She also claimed that the online screenshots were fabricated.

“I’d also like to address the screenshots that have been going around online that have been falsified. What has been shared does not reflect the truth,” Keyser said. “And it’s never been in my character to discriminate against anybody’s skin color. I do want to say directly that I do not support racism or discrimination of any kind, and I never have.”

Then Keyser said, “When I first found out that these things were going around online, it really broke my heart, and I couldn’t do anything about it. But this has definitely been. And it sucks that I didn’t get a chance to.”

According to Hollywood Life, the blurry video appears to be an old Snapchat video of Keyser singing along to “The Box,” which contains a racial slur in its lyrics. There are also alleged screenshots associated with the old TikTok comment.

It became another issue for the show to deal with. As earlier reported, Love Island USA eliminated Vasana Montgomery from Season 8 before it started because of two videos that were uploaded online and contained racial slurs. One of those videos had her speaking the word while playing the arcade game, and the other had her singing the song lyrics that included the racial slur. Those videos were reportedly posted to the private account and became publicly available only when the cast of contestants was announced.

Earlier in Season 7, Yulissa Escobar was also removed from the show after podcast clips surfaced in which she repeatedly used the racial slur. Escobar later apologized, claiming that she used the word “ignorantly” without realizing its meaning and history.

Later in that season, Cierra Ortega was removed from the villa after old posts containing an anti-Asian slur were discovered. Ortega’s family issued a statement saying, “We’re not here to justify or ignore what’s surfaced.”

Now, Love Island USA, hosted by Ariana Madix, is one of the most popular shows. Still, viewers now behave like detectives, investigating contestants’ backgrounds as soon as they join the island.

At the moment, NBC and Peacock have not responded, and it is unknown whether Alannah Keyser will remain on Love Island USA.

I make over $220 an hour while working from home and looking after my two kids. I was hesitant at first, but when my friend, who earns more than $35,000 a month, encouraged me to try it, I went for it. It’s been amazing! I have more time and money than I ever thought possible. Want to see how?
