Today, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) extended her appreciation to the Rules Committee and Chairman Jim McGovern for their recognition of her legislative work during her first term. Recently, the Congresswoman received a letter from the Chairman commending her for submitting more legislative amendments made-in-order than 90 percent of the freshmen class.

The full letter is below.

The Congresswoman’s amendments reflect a thorough attention to detail on hallmark Democratic leadership legislation placed before the House over her first term. The Congresswoman has put forward and passed amendments to repeal the Faircloth Amendment, a provision which blocks the construction of new public housing units; to reallocate funding from the Drug Enforcement Agency to increase treatment for opioid addiction; and to block the Trump Administration from rolling back Obama-era fair housing protections, among many others.
