Footage from a body camera shows the arrest of a 21-year-old Florida lady following a case of dangerous speeding and almost striking a pedestrian. The video went viral, gaining nearly 500,000 views on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Chloe Singletary was detained by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department on November 25th after officers noticed her BMW drive southbound on Pasadena Avenue South at approximately 8:48 p.m., going well over the speed limit. In-car radar clocked her traveling at 91 mph in an area where the limit was only 35 mph, 50 mph over the legal maximum. Singletary has been charged with dangerous, excessive speeding.
According to Tampa Bay 28, Singletary was aware that she had been traveling at such a high rate and confessed to the officer that she wished to reach the beach before her parents discovered her whereabouts.
Since its revival, the video has sparked considerable online debate, centered on the dangers of excessive speeding, concerns about law enforcement, and broader discussions of responsibility among young drivers who put others in jeopardy.
“Breathalyzers and blood tests exist for a good reason. I enjoy speeding, yet 91 in a 35 mph zone with pedestrians nearby is not something to be done,” one individual remarked.
“I don’t believe that field sobriety testing means anything; you will pass. Off to the bin she goes. Most likely, she’ll be in there for a brief period because she is lovely,” another person wrote.
“Somebody must have wanted to hide those guns for themselves,” a third individual stated cryptically.
