Brown Grad Days Ivy League Schools Are “Breeding Grounds For Sexual Predators”

Brown University alumna Kylie Brewer believes that Ivy League institutions breed sexual predators. In one of her recent videos uploaded on TikTok, she revealed how her friend, who was her fellow at that time, drugged and pressured her in his room.

Her TikTok video is titled “As a Brown grad, the Ivy League is filled with predators”. The video comes amid a lawsuit against Cornell University known as “the Cornell 7,” brought by social media users.

“In light of the Cornell 7, I wanted to make this video to explain that the Ivy Leagues are breeding grounds for sexual predators,” Brewer told.

She says the reason is threefold. First, most students at these colleges come from wealthy, influential families, especially white men. Secondly, these universities are keen on protecting their image. Third, even when there is a Title IX violation, no real action is taken beyond making the accused apologize.

Then she went on to talk about her experience at Brown.

“What happened to me is that this was someone that I really trusted, who was on my floor, and it was my first time smoking weed,” she said. “He basically got me very, very intoxicated, wouldn’t let me leave his room, kept asking me and pressuring me until I didn’t say anything at all. And he just did something …”

“And this is a story that most of my friends and family don’t even know,” she said. “So I apologize for anyone who’s seeing this for the first time.”

She does not name the man nor mention the exact date when this happened.

She criticizes the universities’ response to these allegations. “It’s disgusting how little these universities do to correct these men and to expel them and to prosecute properly, because these are crimes committed on their campuses,” she said.

Title IX is legislation that bans sex discrimination in educational institutions receiving federal funds. These institutions are required to respond to allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

According to Brewer, she filed a Title IX report with Brown but didn’t follow up because other women warned her.

“I contacted Title IX and filed a report, but I didn’t even follow up with it because multiple of the women I know were like, ‘Trust me, they’re not going to do anything except traumatize you during this process. They’re not even going to expel him,'” she said.

“I know multiple women who transferred from Brown because they just didn’t want to see their rapist there anymore,” Brewer said. “And Brown did nothing about it. Same with all Ivies, I guess.”

In the Cornell case, a former student who preferred to remain anonymous has brought a lawsuit against the university, Chi Phi fraternity, seven of its members, and others on Sept. 16. She alleges that she was drugged and sexually assaulted at the fraternity house in October 2024, NBC Chicago reports.

Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten announced on Monday that his office will present evidence to the grand jury. It was mentioned that initially, she did not tell authorities that she had been drugged and raped by a group of men.

Cornell University announced that it is ready to reopen the investigation. It said it expelled and suspended some of the students but never allowed anyone to write an essay as the only punishment. One of the lawyers for the seven men accused denies the allegations.
