Fans Say Sofia Vergara’s “GILF Era” Has Arrived After Sizzling Emmys Look

At the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, Sofia Vergara stunned the audience in a custom pink gown that quickly became a topic of conversation online on Monday.

The Modern Family actress presented an award at the September 14th ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. She gave the trophy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series to Stephen Root for Widow’s Bay. The show, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, aired live on NBC and Peacock.

Laura Basci created the star’s custom look. It was a pink strapless gown adorned with sparkling sequins, lace embroidery, and front illusion details that highlighted the dress’s sweetheart bodice. The gown featured a fitted silhouette that gradually widened into the bottom, creating a mermaid hem. It had a subtle train.

For accessories, Vergara chose jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz. It included an oversized ring set with a pear-shaped central stone surrounded by other pear and marquise diamonds, which were gathered into a floral cluster. For makeup, she got bronzed skin, soft pink eyeshadow, matte mauve lips, and blush, along with signature bouncy hair.

She later shared pictures from the evening on Instagram with the caption “Emmy night” followed by two pink hearts. The designer posted an Instagram story showing the actress in the gown.

Audience members applauded the dress for its elegance, excellent fit, and timeless style. One fan said “Sofia Vergara is stunning as ever”. Others joked that her “GILF” era was beginning because she has long loved wearing mermaid-silhouette gowns.

It continues a trend for the actress. In January 2024, she wore a custom red gown to the 2024 Emmys. Earlier in January, she went to the Golden Globes after-party in a plunging red mermaid beaded gown.
