Bridgerton season 5 has started production with Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) playing the lead and a romantic plot that has generated a lot of controversy and debate.
Francesca is a young widow learning to open her heart again, but with a twist: her love interest is Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), Lord John Stirling’s cousin.

The reaction to the news came fast and thick.
While many from the LGBTQ+ community praised the move and the sapphic love story in Bridgerton season 5, many fans were not too pleased with the turn of events.
One such fan wrote, “I want everybody and their mothers tuning in to support this season specifically because the insane homophobia they faced drove me crazy.”
Another fan wrote, “Dying that they faced so much hate begging for it not to be the next season, and it was all for nothing—kekek—they’re going to have to accept these princesses!!!”
However, some Quinn fans were not too happy with the turn of events and felt the show was straying too far from the source material and disrupting its narrative flow.
One such fan wrote, “Super excited to see them, but real talk, I don’t get this decision. Eloise’s storyline is stuck in an eternal loop, and Francesca could’ve waited a bit longer since John just died. I swear, I don’t get the show’s team.”
It may not be the best move for the fans, but season 5 is the talk of the town nonetheless.
There is still no word on the release date for the show.
