Footage Shows Vladimir Popov Getting Devoured By A Shark At An Egyptian Beach

On Thursday, a shark devoured alive a Russian man named Vladimir Popov on an Egyptian beach. The scene unfolded in front of tourists visiting the popular Egyptian resort of Hurghada.

Many hotel employees and guests were screaming for swimmers to get out of the water as the shark’s fin approached the beach of the Dream Beach Hotel, in the terrifying footage.

Several videos of the incident went viral on social media, including one in which the woman filming it kept saying, “Oh my god! Oh my god!” throughout.

Popov did put up a fight in one of the viral videos. It was clear to everyone watching that this was a losing battle. Rescuers attempted to save Popov, but by the time they arrived, the shark had devoured him.

Popov’s girlfriend, an unidentified woman, reportedly managed to swim away from the shark just in time and escape. She was seen on the beach crying as beachgoers tried to console her.

Vladimir Popov was not a tourist but had been in Egypt for several months, according to reports. He was 23 at the time. He screamed “Papa!” before being mauled to death by the shark. His father was said to be among the beachgoers who witnessed his son’s death.

Egyptian authorities eventually captured and killed the shark. The following video shows the predator being removed:

Many people are upset that Egyptian authorities removed the shark from the water and killed it because the swimmers were in its territory.

Killing the shark won't bring back the dead man back !! Egypt doesn't have safety systems and precautions to provide the safest places for swimming..there's no protocols that's why this incident will affect the russian tourism specifically
