Today, the LadyLike Foundation announced their 2019 honorees for the 11th Annual LadyLike Foundation Women of Excellence Luncheon, which will include Carrie O’dell, Jordin Sparks, Marjorie Harvey and Storm Reid. The nonprofit organization, whose mission is to educate, empower and inspire young girls living in underprivileged communities around the Greater Los Angeles area, hosts this annual fundraiser to honor women in the community and in our world who are “Excellent” in their fields of occupation and philanthropy. The Women of Excellence Luncheon will take place on Saturday, May 11th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel with Holly Robinson Peete returning as host.

This year’s honorees have each made an impact in their communities and utilized their various platforms to continue to inspire and encourage young ladies to fulfill their goals and not allow obstacles of any nature to permit them from becoming the best that they can be. Previous honorees have included Angela Bassett, Kelly Rowland, Mel B, Debra Lee, Tina Knowles, and Zendaya among others.

“I am so proud of how far the LadyLike foundation has come! From doing little workshops in my backyard to filling up the international ballroom at the Beverly Hilton, it is truly a blessing to see how much we’ve grown and how many lives we have changed,” said LadyLike Foundation Founder Leah Pump. “Our girls come from not so great environments yet they are positively stimulated to reach their highest potential and become successful, service driven, and well rounded. I am in awe of what we have been able to do!”

Through the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation, Marjorie Harvey has committed herself to delivering programming for youth that aids in their successful development. She leads the Girls Who Rule the World program, which hosted it’s 5th annual camp in 2018, and provides educational enrichment and one-on-one mentoring. In addition, along with her husband, the foundation has worked with 100 Girls of Code Conyers to provide dynamic free workshops in the areas of programming, augmented reality, mobile app design, video game creation and web design.

At only 15, Storm Reid continues to inspire her peers by promoting self-love through her initiative, Bamazing, encouraging young girls to believe in themselves. A longtime partner of the LadyLike Foundation, in 2018 Reid helped the foundation to raise more than $2,500 through sales of an originally designed t-shirt.

Over the past 10 years, Jordin Sparks along with her brother P.J., have created and led the I’m M.A.D Are You? campaign, inspiring hundreds of teens through social media and community service to find an issue that they are passionate about and funnel their energy into creating change. Jordin hosts, The Jordin Sparks Experience, an annual fundraiser that has brought in more than $500,000 to I’m M.A.D. Are You? to supplement their programs.

Always an advocate for Arts Education, Carrie O’Dell founded and continues to run the Los Angeles Youth Arts Academy, a program that provides theater arts for students in Los Angeles. She brings to this project a wealth of knowledge including 14 years on Project Council, a support board of the Museum of Contemporary Art Museum, and 12 years of impact work with Washington Prep High School.

Funds raised at the 11th Annual LadyLike Foundation Women of Excellence Luncheon will enable LadyLike Foundation to provide scholarships to college bound young ladies from the inner city of Los Angeles, as well as continue their international and local programs. In 2018, the foundation was able to provide four $5000 rewards to a group of deserving scholars to continue to pursue their education.
