Former VP of the U.S. Kamala Harris accused President Donald Trump of advocating for the execution of acts amounting to war crimes against Iranians by threatening the US military attack against their civilian infrastructure on Tuesday.
In response to Trump’s warning on social media, where he gave Iran until 8 p.m. ET to open the Strait of Hormuz, or risk being subjected to military action against power stations, bridges, and all other infrastructure that supports Iranian civilians, Harris took to social media and called him out on his actions.
“The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a ‘whole civilization,” she stated. “This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this.
The former vice president called this move by the commander in chief a “disastrous war of his own making,” adding that there is no clear path to victory, or anything for that matter, in this case, and that American troops will have to pay dearly for their commander’s reckless behavior. This will tarnish America’s international image and cost taxpayers a lot of money.
In Trump’s ultimatum to Iran, posted on his social media channel known as Truth Social, he said that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” but also mentioned the prospect of a diplomatic solution after “Complete and Total Regime Change.”
“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World,” Trump stated, going as far as to say that “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end.”
