A24, the renowned independent entertainment company, has once again joined hands with esteemed director Halina Reijn to bring to life the highly anticipated erotic thriller “Babygirl.”
Reijn, celebrated for her directorial prowess in “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Instinct,” has written the script and is set to direct this bold and boundary-pushing project.
The film’s casting has been the subject of much speculation, but the wait is finally over as it has been confirmed that Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman and the versatile Harris Dickinson, known for his roles in “The Iron Claw,” “Triangle of Sadness,” “A Murder at the End of the World,” and “Scrapper,” will take on the lead roles.
Joining them in this star-studded ensemble are none other than Academy Award nominee Antonio Banderas, the talented Sophie Wilde, and the iconic Jean Reno.
“Babygirl” promises to delve into the complexities of human desires and relationships, as it explores the illicit affair between a successful CEO and her much younger intern, setting the stage for a gripping and thought-provoking narrative.
The production of “Babygirl” boasts a formidable team, with David Hinojosa of 2 AM set to produce alongside Reijn of MAN UP Film and A24, which is providing the financial backing for the project.
Julia Oh, Zach Nutman, and Christine D’Souza Gelb, also of 2 AM, will serve as executive producers, ensuring the film’s production benefits from their wealth of experience and expertise.
This marks the second collaboration between Halina Reijn and A24, following their successful venture on the satirical slasher “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” which was also produced by Hinojosa. A24 also acquired Reijn’s directorial debut, “Instinct,” which serves as a testament to the strong creative partnership that exists between the director and the esteemed production company.
With a cast of this caliber and a narrative that promises to challenge and captivate audiences, “Babygirl” is poised to make a significant impact in the world of cinema. As the project continues to gather momentum, it is clear that “Babygirl” is set to become a standout entry, offering a fresh and daring exploration of human desires and the consequences of indulging them.
