A clip of the streamer known as Morgpie is sparking yet another discussion about the platform’s policies. In the 24-second-long footage, an unknown person can be seen crawling from under the desk to the broadcaster’s pet bed, where the person talks to the camera and wears a spiked collar.
In the video, Morgpie takes a brief pause and tells the person to “Um, one sec. Place. Good. Good. Okay, where were we?” and goes back to the video.
The video became viral and caused outrage on social media. Viewers referred to the footage as a type of “pet play,” which implies adult role-play content. According to users, such content should not appear on the platform, as Twitch is seen as a site with an acceptable level of content for all ages, including children.
“Should be illegal to have content like this on a video game live streaming platform which is marketed towards kids,” one user wrote. “There are plenty of camgirl sites. Why on Earth are you doing this on Twitch, even as a joke?”
Many people mentioned accessibility issues with the platform’s content. “There are so many different platforms out there for this kind of content, and we’ve gone and posted on one that has children on it,” one user wrote.
Criticism of the platform’s leadership is also present. Specifically, CEO Dan Clancy’s name keeps coming up in questions about whether any restrictions are still enforced.
“Twitch really said ‘no rules left,’ huh? Clancy’s notifications must be going nuts,” one person wrote. “This isn’t gaming anymore, this is full circus mode.”
