What Does Javicia Leslie Go Through On The CW’s ‘Batwoman’ Set?

Ruby Rose shared alleged working conditions she experienced on The CW’s ‘Batwoman’ set on her Instagram story last night.

The former ‘Batwoman’ star spoke about the former Warner Bros Television chairman, Peter Roth allegedly threatening her about shutting down the whole show if she didn’t return to set in ten days after breaking her neck. Roth stepped down in 2020 and has been replaced by Channing Dungey. Rose also mentioned Caroline Dries, the showrunner of the Batwoman. She claims Dries only visited the set four times a year and pressured production to finish filming the season during the pandemic whilst other CW shows stopped production. The only reason that the series shutdown production was due to the government. Rose alleges that on the set of Batwoman, Dougray Scott “abused women,” “hurt a female stunt double, he yelled like a little bitch at women and was a nightmare” to work with.

If this is all true, what does Javicia Leslie go through on a daily basis on set?

Hopefully, Dungey becoming President of Warner Bros. Television has helped create a safe environment on all The CW sets but it seems like there are still some of the same old issues going on all these sets especially for black women. Javicia Leslie, Anna Diop, Azie Tesfai, and Candice Patton spoke about some of the uphill battles they still go through on Instagram live last month.

Leslie was dealing with racist trolls from Wallis Day fan accounts. The fan account was using monkey emojis when referring to Javicia Leslie. A ‘Batwoman’ fan checked Day for not telling her fan pages to stop with the racist antics. This was allegedly Wallis Day response to the fan.

It seems like the only protection black women get who are starring in these CW television shows are from other black women starring in other CW shows and their fans.
