A Colombian woman, who met a businessman on a dating app and then drugged and robbed him, received three years of probation and was ordered to be deported from Argentina because her victim had woken up during the robbery and apprehended her in the process, according to local authorities.
The woman, whose name is Karina Marcela Osorio Díaz and is known to her victim only as “Dayana,” was arrested early in the morning after the 69-year-old businessman had awoken and discovered her removing an 18-karat gold chain from his neck at his apartment in the Puerto Madero district, according to Infobae, an Argentine news outlet.
The incident began on April 27, when the businessman, who lives in San Isidro, contacted “Dayana” on a dating app from his apartment on Juana Manso Street, according to an Infobae report. He picked her up at 10 p.m. at the intersection of the streets in the Vicente López suburb of Buenos Aires, took her to Puerto Madero.
They were listening to music and drinking, and then went to bed in the main bedroom of the apartment, according to a judicial document cited by Infobae. The investigation revealed later that the drink she kept offering him had been spiked with some psychoactive substance that put the man into a sleep.
Around 3 a.m., the victim woke up and noticed her trying to take the gold chain from his neck, according to El Esquiú, a newspaper of Catamarca province. When he rose, he discovered that the apartment had been burgled and several watches, later recognized as Rolex replicas, were missing from his wardrobe.
He warned her: “Dayana, if you do not give me the chain, I’m going to call the police.” Because she did not return the chain, he called the police.
Officers of the Buenos Aires City Police arrived at the apartment and arrested the woman. It was found during the search of her that she had two cellphones, 80,000 Argentine pesos in cash, and a forged Colombian identity card in the name of “Yessica Dayana Montes Gómez,” according to the report from El Esquiú. The investigators also found a syringe that contained some painkiller that had been used to sedate the victim.
Osorio Díaz was described as a “viuda negra,” or a “black widow,” a nickname given in Argentina to criminals—mostly women—who drug their victims through dating apps and then rob them while they are unconscious. In this case, the whole plan collapsed unusually fast as the victim woke up before the robbery was completed, according to Identidad Correntina.
She was sentenced to three years of probation for robbery through the use of hypnotic substances, according to Infobae. While the trial was going on, it was discovered that she was illegally staying in Argentina. She was briefly imprisoned at the Ezeiza airport and will not be allowed to return.
Such black widow robberies have become a problem in Buenos Aires recently, usually targeting people through dating apps such as Tinder. In another incident reported by Infobae in November 2025, a woman called “Ayelén” drugged a senior police commissioner she had met through the same dating app.
