Brazilian actor, model, singer, and artisan Jessica Cechella is participating in the 13th season of MasterChef Brasil, with support from her home city, Criciúma, as well as from Laguna, where she currently resides.
In an interview with Where Is The Buzz, Cechella said that she is a multifaceted person whose creative identities influence her culinary approach. Instead of regarding her occupations as parts of her life, Jessica claimed that they converge on the table.
“I believe all of these are part of who I am,” she said. “Every experience has taught me something different: music has given me sensitivity, acting has taught me how to tell stories, and craftsmanship has given me an eye for detail. All of that naturally comes through in my cooking. To me, cooking isn’t just about preparing a dish; it’s about creating an experience for everyone who sits at the table.”
Born in Criciúma and currently living in Laguna, Jessica Cechella has ties to both cities as she participates in a nationwide culinary competition.
“It’s an incredible honor,” she said. “I was born in Criciúma, and I now live in Laguna, so I have a special connection with both cities. Receiving so much support from people across Santa Catarina has been truly moving. Knowing they relate to my story and are cheering me on gives me even more strength to embrace this experience.”
Cooking had always been a part of her life, even before she applied to the show, as she told the representatives of Where Is The Buzz. According to Jessica, her culinary skills began to develop at home, where she baked desserts and sweets for her family.
“Cooking has always been part of my life,” she said. “It started with baking, making desserts and sweets for my family, and it grew naturally from there. Over time, I realized that cooking was much more than a hobby. It became my way of caring for people, bringing loved ones together, and creating meaningful moments. At the same time, I’ve always been a huge fan of the show and have watched every season. This year, I thought, ‘Why not apply and experience something completely different?'”
According to Cechella, fans won’t get any spoilers about filming due to confidentiality rules, but she gave Where Is The Buzz some hints about a part of the filming that wasn’t included in the show’s final edit.
“I’ll have to keep that one a secret for now!” she said. “While the show is still airing, I need to respect the competition’s confidentiality. But there was one very special moment during the first episode when I sang a song by the band Dazaranha, which is very well known in Santa Catarina. Unfortunately, it didn’t make it into the final edit.”
She was accepted into the competition on the first try, which seems unusual, since thousands of applicants try to enter each season. When asked about her competitive advantage over other applicants, she answered that it was her honesty and openness.
“Honestly, I think I was simply genuine throughout the entire process,” she said. “I shared my story, talked about my purpose, and showed who I truly am. Maybe that authenticity is what made the difference.”
Throughout her participation in MasterChef Brasil, she tries to heed the judges’ advice and recommendations. But one comment from a judge has left a particularly strong impression on Jessica Cechella.
“Every comment from the judges has been important for my growth and learning, but one that really stayed with me was when Helena Rizzo told me that I’m a perfectionist,” she said. “That’s a trait that often makes me suffer because I’m very demanding of myself. At the same time, I’ve learned to see that perfectionism also has a positive side. It has pushed me to study, improve, and constantly strive for excellence. I believe that dedication has been essential in helping me achieve opportunities and reach places that many people dream of.”
As an experienced performer with diverse skills, Jessica Cechella already has something to show the audience if the producers of MasterChef Brazil decide to introduce the talent challenge alongside cooking competitions.
“I think I would choose singing,” she said. “I was part of a choir for many years, and I also sang at weddings for quite some time. It’s something that has always been part of my life, and I truly enjoy doing it.”
When it comes to her future, Jessica Cechella said that being a firefighter is one of the most important aspects of her identity, and she wouldn’t let it go no matter how far she goes in the competition.
“Being a firefighter is part of who I am, and it’s a profession I’m incredibly proud of,” she said. “No matter what happens, serving others will always be a fundamental part of my life. As for the future, I prefer to take things one day at a time and embrace every opportunity that comes my way naturally.”
Is Jessica Cechella your favorite on MasterChef Brasil season 13th?
