Maya Higa Turns Down Kai Cenat’s Streamer University to Save Endangered Sperm Whales: “I Wanted to Go So Bad”

Founder of Alveus Sanctuary, Maya Higa, says in a TikTok video posted from the sanctuary that she can’t make it to Streamer University 2026 due to scheduling conflicts with a whale conservation project that she has already organized.

Cenat had chosen Higa as one of the professors for the upcoming event, and she calls it an “honor.” However, she explains that the dates of Streamer University conflict with her long-term collaboration with an organization that helps with the preservation of sperm whales, which she calls “the largest toothed carnivore on the planet.”

“The reason that I can’t go is because with the dates, I had made a commitment quite some time ago to work on a project to help conserve sperm whales,” Higa stated. She added that she felt an obligation not only to the organization but to the whales themselves, saying, “I care about that so much.”

Higa highlights how difficult the decision was, considering how much she likes the streaming community. “I am a streamer, and I love being a streamer, and I love hanging out with streamers, and I would have so much fun at Streamer University,” she shared. “But more than anything else in the world, I’m a conservationist, and so that’s what I have to do.”

However, Higa thanks Cenat for the invite and says she’ll be watching the event live from home. Moreover, Higa says that even though she can’t attend the event in person, she still hopes to provide viewers with information about wildlife and conservation through her personal channel and the Alveus Sanctuary channels.

“I hope that I can teach you about animals and our planet through my channel and through the Alveus Sanctuary channels, even though I won’t be there this year,” she added.

At the end of the video, Higa asks viewers to follow her and Alveus Sanctuary for wildlife conservation information and wishes everyone a good experience at the event.
