Psychology Grad Reportedly Turns Down PhD Offer After Making Her Annual Salary in Just Two Days on OnlyFans

A reported graduate student in psychology and neuroscience who initially intended to become a clinical psychologist is now a content creator because she earns much more quickly on OnlyFans than she did in academic circles.

Isla Moon was working as a research assistant in the neuroscience lab and preparing for a PhD before she left academia. She earned $15,000 annually during her undergraduate studies with an outstanding GPA of 4.0.

“I was a research assistant at my lab and was applying to do my PhD at the time,” Moon explained. “I already had some research papers to my name, and was going down the path of all of that stuff.”

After reading the article about a content creator who managed to earn $1 million in one day, Isla considered joining OnlyFans.

“I read this Bella Thorne article, and that’s when I found out about OnlyFans,” she said. “I was like, damn, maybe I could do that. I had no followers. My personal Instagram had, I think, 18 followers.”

She decided to give her career a try after her graduation, remembering a conversation with her boyfriend in their apartment.

“We were in our really bad bed bug infested apartment making the bed,” she recollected. “And I was like, imagine if we did OnlyFans. Then he was like, yeah. We should do it. So I decided then that the second after I graduate, we’ll start.”

She published her first videos the day after her last exam. At first, the growth was not very impressive, and Moon almost gave up, but then she decided to try posting on TikTok.

“It didn’t work out very much for like a month, and I was like, I’m gonna quit,” she said. “But I was like, ‘I’ll post on TikTok and see what happens.”

After two weeks, her account became extremely popular on the same day she received an offer to start a PhD program.

“My OnlyFans blew up. And the same day I blew up, I got my offer to do my PhD,” she said.

With her quick earnings, the decision became obvious.

“I made my salary in two days,” she said. “I figured, if all fails and I make no more, I’d have a couple of years to figure it out and get a job and all that. So it’s, like, I had to.”

Moon turned to her mother for advice.

“I called my mum. I remember telling her the situation like, ‘Mum, I do OnlyFans now, by the way, what should I do?'” she recollected. “She told me, ‘Just do what your heart says. Just do what makes you happy.'”

Then she informed the university that she was declining the doctoral offer.

“I remember calling the university saying ‘sorry, I will decline the offer,'” she said. “Who declines a PhD offer to go all-in on OF?”

Moon’s earnings increased rapidly after that.

“My first month, I made $30,000. Then the next was like $50,000. After that was like $100,000,” she said. “It just kept going. I was in the top 0.1% after three months, and have stayed in that position until now.”

Of course, such a career change had consequences. Moon said that her profile was removed from the alumni page of her university lab.

“They took down my profile on the lab website, where they have all the alumni except for me,” she said. “So that’s really awkward. I could never go back now. There’s no way.”

She formalized her work as a business since then, remembering a banker’s reaction when she opened a business account.

“So at what age do you want to retire?” the banker asked, according to Moon.

“I go, ‘Oh, like in my thirties.’ And then she laughs so f*cking loud,” Moon recollected. “I was so embarrassed. But I love to be underestimated. That’s exactly where I want to be.”

Isla’s online business is based on the outdoor activities she has been involved in since childhood.

“It’s always been in my life,” she said. “I started skiing when I was three and swimming since I was born. And sailing, I’ve been sailing my whole life.”

With the slowdown of social media growth, she focused on her hobbies.

“I figured I’d have to find something that stands out more,” she said. “The boys love to see girls with machinery.”

Moon said that the career shift gave her great freedom, although it is difficult to divide work and fun.

“I was on my kayak, and I brought my three sixty camera and my GoPro and my Osmo and the chest strap,” she said. “And I was like, it’s Sunday. What am I doing?”

Despite all the trade-offs, Moon said that she has no regrets about her choice.

“I love it,” she said. “I kinda love it a little too much.”

I make over $220 an hour while working from home and looking after my two kids. I was hesitant at first, but when my friend, who earns more than $35,000 a month, encouraged me to try it, I went for it. It’s been amazing! I have more time and money than I ever thought possible. Want to see how?
