Alisa Bajraktarevic, a New York City police officer, has sparked outrage within the agency by initiating a lawsuit against the department, alleging improper publication of her nude photo. The case follows Bajraktarevic’s suspension for allegedly interfering with officers during an incident involving her partner, an alleged drug dealer.
The 34-year-old officer claims that a topless image of her from 2012 spread extensively after she was charged of obstructing justice in April of the previous year. According to Bajraktarevic’s legal lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court in December, the intimate photo traveled quickly through the department’s internal communication channels during her suspension.
According to the lawsuit, Bajraktarevic originally shared the nude image with Lt. Mark Rivera, a coworker with whom she had a brief sexual involvement after joining the force in 2012. However, the photo apparently circulated among the department after she became involved in a fight with her boyfriend, Kelvin Hernandez, who was later charged with resisting arrest.
During the incident, Bajraktarevic allegedly sought to use her law enforcement credentials to shield Hernandez from a vehicle search, which resulted in a 30-day suspension without pay. The department also advised her to cut ties with Hernandez.
