Today’s major news for the anime community as Toei Animation announced that the classic series One Piece will take a hiatus after today’s release of Episode 1122. Fans aren’t going to have to wait too long for new material, though, as the show returns this April of 2025 with all-new episodes from the highly anticipated Egghead arc.

Meanwhile, during this hiatus, fans can still keep themselves busy with new exciting content: The studio has announced One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga, a special reimagined version of the classic arc that will be released only on Crunchyroll in some areas before rolling out a month later in the rest of the world. This special cutdown of 21 episodes will show a new look at the Fish-Man Island Arc with a contemporary visual style, featuring new animation sequences.

Fans can look forward to new opening and ending themes. Kitadani Hiroshi will return to sing a new “We Go!” and have a new, yet-to-be-announced guest collaboration. BE FIRST sings “Sailing” (TV version) for the closing theme to bring an exhilarating new flavor into the saga.

The One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga adaptation will condense the über-popular arc into a more compact version, retaining its essence to ensnare veteran and new viewers alike.

25th Anniversary Special Episode

To celebrate One Piece‘s 25th anniversary, a 30-minute special will air on October 20 to look back on the history of the anime. This is going to be a very nostalgic episode that describes the reuniting of the Straw Hat crew but with a perspective from a non-pirate character. This is situated in the Sabaody Archipelago after the Summit War; it centers around a young girl who idolizes Nami and embarks on a small adventure. Fans can catch this special on Crunchyroll.

One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga Official Synopsis:

“The Straw Hats return to Sabaody! The day of the reunion has finally arrived. After two long years of separation, the Straw Hats set their feet back on the Sabaody Archipelago. Straw Hats proved themselves stronger at this very place where they lost against Pacifista and prepared to sail into the New World. With renovation to let the Thousand Sunny go underwater, their next destination is Fish-Man Island.”

This condensed version of the Fish-Man Island Arc gives this arc a whole new feel as fans can experience the thrills once more in a much tighter package, wrapped up in 21 episodes with improved animation and audio quality.

One Piece Continues Its Legacy

From the day it was created, One Piece, by Eiichiro Oda, has captured the hearts of millions who follow the quest of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew to find the ultimate treasure, known as “One Piece,” and crown Luffy the Pirate King. Continuing on to being the longest series yet, it is still trending worldwide since it combines action and comedy with many touching tales that reach people’s hearts, regardless of age.

Fans looking to learn more and stay current can visit the official One Piece show page on Crunchyroll, or follow the series on its official social media channels.

And that’s not all, One Piece the adventure has only just begun!
